BIO

Joan Ryan is a Boston based artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally She has received grants from the Berkshire Taconic Foundation, Massachusetts Cultural Council, The Puffin Foundation, and George Sugarman Foundation. In 2011 she was awarded the Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grant from the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. 2014 She received support from the National Endowment for the Arts for a month long residency at The Studio’s at Vytlacil, Sparkill NY.  Recent solo exhibitions include 2016 Mask of Power, AIR Gallery, Brooklyn NY; Myths, Kansas State University, Manhattan KS; “Ruinlust” at SoHo 20, Chelsea, NY and “Cock and Bull” at the Kit Schulte Gallery Berlin Germany. Some of the residencies attended include Mass MOCA Residency, North Adams MA; DADA POST, Berlin Germany, Santa Fe Art Institute, Santa FE, NM. Ryan lives in Boston where she maintains her studio and is a full Professor of painting and drawing a Lesley University School of Art and Design.
